Piccolino

We reserved a table a few weeks ago for 8 of us for Sat 12 March at 9pm so the restaurant had plenty of notice for our booking. When we turned up at Piccolinos in Sheffield, we were informed that our table was not ready. We therefore had some drinks and continued to wait. We also spoke to the manager a couple of times why we were kept waiting so long and again were told that our table was still being occupied by another party. They eventually sat us at a table at 10.00PM WHICH IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. WE WAITED FOR ONE HOUR IN TOTAL.

There were no fresh specialties on offer; ie fresh mussels or sardines. When the food eventually came I have never seen portions so small in any Italian restaurant, and considering the length of time we were kept waiting, we were very hungry.

Although the staff were very apologetic and did give us 2 free bottles of wine and £40 vouchers off the bill, I am afraid that I will never step inside a Piccolinos restaurant anywhere in England again.

I am Italian and I love Italian cuisine, and I am afraid that this standard of service and the quality of food is unacceptable.

We have been to other Piccolino restaurants in York (where we live) and Leeds and had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately the Sheffield Piccolinos branch is far below standard.
