We visited this restaurant for a works Christmas party and we were disappointed with the standard of service received.
The tables in the bistro are very close together in a very narrow space, which would not comfortably hold a large number of diners. Despite pre-booking the venue two months in advance, with advance warning that this was a Christmas party for a bunch of work colleagues, the venue booked in other diners who wanted an intimate quiet space. When our party was underway, and the wine we had pre-paid corkage on was flowing, we were subjected to criticism from diners and also the staff for being raucous and loud. It was disappointing that, despite booking the venue for our Christmas party, we were told we were having too much fun and asked to quiet down. The staff were, in my opinion, unfriendly and distanced themselves from the problem, allowing the other diners to be critical of our party and shout at us for being noisy. The issue was that the restaurant took bookings from couples without advising them of our booking. It was, in my opinion, short sighted and unprofessionally dealt with.
The food was OK, but the evening was spoilt by the fact we were treated poorly and our evening spoilt by a restaurant that advertises capacity to cater for christmas parties but seems to not appreciate quite what that means in practice.

I heard on the grapevine that Taste had recently become an Italian cafe/bistro as it has been taken over by Marco Zerboni, and as Italian is my favourite type of food, I decided to pay the place a visit. I went last Friday woth a friend and tried one of Marco's famous Italian fry ups and it was fantastic. My friend had the bruschetta dolci and said it was amazing. The menu is not your typical boring pasta/pizza malarky - there is a lot of variety, and the food is totally authentic, cooked to perfection, and best of all, served with a smile! We will most definitely be returning, particularly as they said that they will be opening shortly in the evening as a bistro offering BYO, brilliant!
