Had a brilliant experience and all the staff were very sweet and polite. Every Thursday they have a live band, which we all thought was great. Definitely a night to remember; would recommend all to try!

The food in the restaurant at the Devonshire Arms, Middle Handley is consistantly good. We have been many times and have tried various dishes. The chef (LEE) is happy to be flexible with the menu and, (given enough notice) will cook something special for you.

The Devonshire Arms has a friendly atmosphere, and when the weather is chilly, there are open fires.

Overall, the Devonshire Arms at Middle Handley provides good food, good wine , and good service in pleasant surroundings. Give it a try!!

ps DO try the Sunday lunch,

Fabulous food, I had the fish and chips and my partner had the steak and ale pie, both absolutely delicious. The sticky toffee pudding and bread & butter pudding were both also gorgeous although we couldn't move by the end of the meal (having had starter too)!! The staff were all very friendly, unfortunately the pub was quiet the night we visited but aside from this it was overall a lovely evening and we will definitely be re-visiting. The price is a little higher than your average pub food but this food isn't average and definitely worth paying that bit more.

Don't go there unless you want to wait an hour for your table - terrible service without so much as a 'sorry'

Great Sunday lunch food was excellent the service very good, lovely atmosphere made even better by the log fire, and good beers in the pub.

What a cracking place, great atmosphere, great staff and terrific food.

A good example of how a country pub should move with the times.

This is a trul awful example of a poorly run restaurant that doesn't even know what it is! the food was good (although apparently the chef and his staff have been replaced since!!!), but the service is terrible and the Manageress really should think of another career.

The nice country pub is ruined.

This was the fourth and last time we visited this establishment. The food is not cheap but excellent - well done to the chef. However, the service is terrible. The landlord and landlady prop the bar up whilst chaos reigns. We booked a table at 830pm and were told that because someone turned up half an hour late for a 6pm sitting, that had thrown out the whole evening! Subsequently we sat down to eat at 930pm! We were told that the oysters were off, there was no ice cream, and when I ordered my goats cheese tartlet, there was none of that left either. There were no apologies from the staff and no attempt to offer a 'sweetener' to make us feel that we weren't just another set of punters. I'll give this place 6 months, due to the bad management. Drink the profits and treat your staff like slaves and you're on a loser. What a shame, a delightful place and great food but let down by the service. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip and will not return.
