Shapla Tandoori Restaurant

I fully agree... Shapla is one of the best. The food is brilliant, never been let down after many visits and the staff are friendly and helpful. The place is warm clean and very well presented. Booking is advisable on a saturday but they always accomodate their regulars. Ladies always get a carnation on leaving which is a lovely touch.

I am a real lover of Indian Food and I have been cooking it myself for many years. I am past 80 years old, so this means a long time. Of course I have also eaten at many local Restaurants, because I still like to eat out to enjoy the food and also the atmosphere and the good professional service given by some Indian restaurants. Of course there are good and bad Indian restaurants so when I find a truly good one I make iot my No.1 choice. Such is The SHAPLA whose cooking I find is 100% great. The Restaurant has recently been made twice as large and the decor is very upmarket, and the owner has been suppling forst class food for at the same address for about 30 years. Put with this the wonderful service given by the hard-workig and friendly staff and you have a wonderful night out. Try it and you will return again and again. Absolute tops for everything and I know my Indian food

Having read the previous reviews about shapla I feel slightly rude in writing this having only eaten there for the past 4 years....
However I shall continue. All I can say about the Shapla restaurant is this: SUPERB! Even dating back to before the dramatic expansion of the restaurant, I can honestly say each and every meal I have eaten there has been completely scrumptious. I'm an avid fan of Indian cuisine and am not easy impressed, BUT the food is beautiful (I have recently acquired a taste for the chicken tikka balti), the staff are welcoming, friendly and nothing is too much to ask of them, and the atmosphere is relaxed.
The surroundings now sit on an even keel in standard to the food... and I still get my flower at the end of each visit. Shapla will always be my number one!
P.S: On my last visit I was presented with a new desserts menu after my meal. I was truely full and had no room for afters, however on my next visit I will be sure to make an extra effort and wear my stretchy trousers to accomodate!!!

The Shapla is the" expert of experts". I should know i started going in 1979 and its still got the same owner -testament to its quality. Guaranteed 100%. You'll not find a better Indian.

Fantastic you've done it again malik, flawless shapla. I have been visiting from the first week malik opened the doors 28 years ago. I sometimes move from one indian to another but allways rate shapla as me favourite. Well done lads keep it up.

Having eaten at Shapla for the last 10 years I am pleased to say that the Food and Service has remained at a very high standard following its refurb. Even prior to the refurb whilst the decor was pretty basic the food was great and it was a very friendly welcoming environment. Had the usual selection during Xmas and the food was great no change there and even though I'd not eaten there for several weeks was welcomed back as a long lost member of the 'Shapla Crew'.
Yes you can pay a lot more and have an expensive and rather pretentious Indian meal elsewhere - but this is good honest traditional Indian food of a high standard as you’ve come to expect.

The Shapla restaurant is as good a restaurant as you will fnd anywhere in the UK,the food is excellant and so is the friendly service,a £400.000 refit has just taken place and it shows this as a Rolls Royce of Asian restaurants.
I always have the chicken Madras as I find it is a good way of defining the quality of an establishment. The Madras is absolutely superb in every way.
I have been going to this restaurant since it opened in 1979, and please ignore the comments of so called gourmets, I am sure you know the type, the ones who if you gave them a million pounds in a suitcse they would complain about the style of the suitcase.
Take it from Me and visit this culinry palace, you will be glad you did.
